W.I.L.D. Way to Wellness Sponsored by UPMC Hamot
UPMC Hamot is proud to again be the Health/Wellness sponsor for the Gannon SBDC W.I.L.D. Conference. What’s even more exciting is the interactive way we can participate through the W.I.L.D. Way to Wellness. We have some fun and education planned for this event. The W.I.L.D. Way to Wellness encompasses the North End of the Exhibitor area, a total of 27 booths, in the Great Exhibit Hall at the Bayfront Convention Center. In this area, we will be offering screenings, health information, chair massage, shopping and mini-lectures on topics that professional women need as we go about our busy lives.
UPMC Hamot is offering cholesterol screening at the 2012 W.I.L.D.! For just $10, you can get your cholesterol checked and learn the results within just a few minutes. One of the UPMC Hamot clinicians will help you understand what those numbers mean for you. To take part in the cholesterol screening, you must pre-register by emailing, Brandon at armellabj@upmc.edu. Because we are only offering them between 7:15 a.m. and 9 a.m. space is limited, so register right away! Once you register, you will be emailed the time of your appointment. This screening does require fasting for at least 10 hours. So, that’s why we are doing it right when you arrive and are on your way to breakfast! Please bring your cash or check with you that day. For cholesterol screening, credit card payment will not be available. For those who already know their cholesterol or just aren’t quite there yet, will be offering blood pressure screenings, varicose vein screening, bone density, posture screening and even leg fitting women who are on their feet all day. All of these screenings will take place during the exhibit times.
In addition to these services, we will have information available to you on a variety of health care topics. Our clinicians will be on hand to share information on breast health, pelvic health, heart health, bariatric surgery, cosmetic and plastic surgery, green parenting, menopause and healthy eating. We will also have a relaxation area that we will be able to offer information on meditation, acupuncture, mindful exercise like yoga and tai chi, and we will also have our massage therapist available for chair massage for a portion of the break time.
It doesn’t end there…We will be utilizing the west end for a mini-lecture area for break-out sessions. We are excited to have a variety of topics that will be covered in these time periods. And if you aren’t excited yet, get ready! If you attend these sessions you receive a chance to win an iPad2 at the end of the day. The more sessions you attend the more chances you have to win.As we all know, heart disease remains the number one killer of women in the United States so our first presenter will share the latest about peripheral vascular disease and what you can do to stay healthy. As busy women, we all manage stress in different ways. We have a wonderful presentation on Emotional Freedom Technique. To help reduce the stress of aging, we have one of our cosmetic and plastic surgeons on hand to share the tips and techniques for skin care as we get older. And that is just in the morning!
After lunch, our certified pelvic floor physical therapist explain why everything seems to be changing down there! What can I do about pain? Do Kegels really help? And will I always “go” when I laugh, cough, and sneeze?
Last, but certainly not least, we will present the latest in non-surgical cosmetic procedures and the last topic will be 40 minutes so we can do a Botox Injection Demonstration!
This is a great day and we are excited to be a part! Take a look at the schedule and plan ahead which mini-lectures you will attend!
